Week 4

First time running on the beach.

I  realized that the last time Alisa was at the beach was in Hawaii last March (Pics from Hawaii Here). At that point she was only 10 months old and just learning to stand on her own.  This time we ran in the sand and chased each other. We talked about the ocean and the sharks (which she says she both loves and is scared of).

Week 3

In a continuing effort to potty train, we got Alisa her first pair of undies.  She loves them, and in fact you can see in some pictures, she even has two pairs on.

Week 1

First pigtails and first wagon ride:

52 Things New

One of my favorite parts of doing this blog, was documenting the amazing firsts.  And I'm not talking about the first time she reached for a toy or smiled. Those are nice and all, but blah!  They are boring. The real amazing firsts are the ones she was old enough to enjoy. Splashing in the tub, running in the park, going on her first carnival ride.  The first trip to the zoo, to aquarium. Her first vacation. Her first ice cream.

So this year, we are doing 52 Things New.  Again, no lame stories, just pictures.  And this time, it will always be something new for Alisa to try, to explore, and to force us all to be a little more adventurous. One new experience each week.

The End ... or is it?

Well, our 365 day adventure has finally come to an end. And although I'm happy to not be physically attached to the camera at all times, I'm so grateful for having done it. It allowed us to capture the sweetest moments of our baby growing up. It forced us out of the house (yes, some of these activities I did solely because I didn't have a picture for that day).  And it gave us something to look at at the end of a hard day to remind us how damn cute our kid is and how lucky we are.  I'm not a sentimental kind of person who likes to hoard knick-nacks or mementos.  I don't have a scrap book or a baby book for Alisa. I  have no idea how old she was when she first sat up. Or said her first word. Or took her first steps.  But, I have this and I truly hope one day Alisa will treasure this documentation of her childhood.
